What is the richest source of Omega-3 fatty acids?

Fish oil is the richest source for eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Cold-water fish, like anchovies, salmon and sardines, are considered the best source for these essential fatty acids. It is important to remember, that all omega-3′s are not created equal. You would need almost four tablespoons of flaxseed oil to get the same amount of EPA and DHA found in one teaspoon of Sealogix! That’s approximately ten times as much flaxseed oil than fish oil.

Immune function

Another study regarding fish oil was published in the Journal of Nutrition in April 2007. Sixty four healthy Danish infants from nine to twelve months of age received either cow’s milk or infant formula alone or with fish oil. It was found that those infants supplemented with fish oil had improvement in immune function maturation with no apparent reduction in immune activation.

Several studies report possible anti-cancer effects of n?3 fatty acids (particularly breast, colon and prostate cancer) Omega-3 fatty acids reduced prostate tumor growth, slowed histopathological progression, and increased survival. Among n-3 fatty acids [omega-3], neither long-chain nor short-chain forms were consistently associated with breast cancer risk. High levels of docosahexaenoic acid, however, the most abundant n-3 PUFA [omega-3] in erythrocyte membranes, were associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer.

A 2009 trial found that a supplement of eicosapentaenoic acid (Omega 3) helped cancer patients retain muscle mass.

Omega-3 fatty acids benefit

Inflammation is becoming recognized as a primary factor in the development of a wide number of chronic disease conditions. A certain level of inflammatory response is needed to protect us from invading organisms (bacteria, viruses, and parasites) and to treat traumatic injuries. However, left unchecked, it can continue to wear down every organ in the body. This can lead to chronic diseases especially in the heart, brain, and immune system.

There are two types of inflammation. The first is classic inflammation that is associated with pain, swelling, and redness. This can be characterized as screaming pain since it is very obvious and calls for immediate intervention. The other type of inflammation is silent inflammation or silent pain that is far more insidious. It doesn’t generate the pain associated with classic inflammation and therefore goes untreated for years. We now know that this silent inflammation is the underlying cause of heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. Virtually every type of chronic disease has a significant inflammatory component as its underlying cause. A primary focus of modern medical research remains the reduction of both classic and silent inflammation.

According to: Dr Barry Sears, a leading expert on Inflammation

Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of — or who have — cardiovascular disease.

Do you want to live longer? Be healthier? Function more efficiently? Then you have to start with lowering with getting rid of inflammation in your system.   Studies show that much of our bad health comes from a bad diet, and not exercising.  This is not news to us.  I don’t know why we hear this so often, yet do so little about it. Omega 3 oils are the natural and most effective way to reduce inflammation.  So let’s look at this more closely.

With so many pre packated, fast foods, sodas, candies etc out there, and, in our diet everyday, we are consuming way too much of omega 6, but way too little omega 3 which is proven to reduce inflammation.

The most detrimental is what is known as the “silent killer” because it does not have any symptoms but it  leads directly to heart attacks, and strokes.  Can you believe that 90% of people do NOT ingest enough Omega 3′s?  And that many people who have Omega 3 supplements, forget to take them.

The omega 3 fats that are so effictive are…DHA/

Here is a big surprise, as reported March 31, 2005 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine: A Randomized Trial of Low-Dose Aspirin in the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Women.

40,000 Women age 45 and older were kept track of for 10 years to see if 100mg of aspirin that was taken every other day gave protection against heart attack and stroke. The results: while aspirin therapy seems to help men against cardiovascular disease, according to this study, women receive no such protection against heart attacks until they are 65 years of age, or older.
