Health Canada, the World Health Organization and the American Heart Association all recommend that you take more Omega-3. Are you getting enough Omega-3 EPA, DHA and DPA?
The American Heart Association, however, had been touting the benefits of omega-3 since 1996, when it released its Science Advisory, “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Lipids and Coronary Heart Disease.” Six years later, the AHA released new information on how omega-3 fatty acids reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The report found that they make the blood less likely to form clots that cause heart attacks and protect against irregular heartbeats that cause sudden cardiac death.
In addition, omega-3 was also found to decrease triglyceride levels — as effectively as cholesterol medication — and lower blood pressure slightly.
Please remember, this is for your information only, and never meant to diagnose or treat!
Omega 3 is very well known, already for a long time, to have a beneficial effect on health, especially with issues concerning the heart, and for blood & circulation. Omega 3 is good for helping in the breakdown of fibrin which contributes to scar and blood clot formation.
ps another of the many benefits of Omega 3: Evidence shows that omega 3 can also help those that suffer from anxiety disorders & depression.
We encourage you to visit our web site periodically to review updated reviews of studies and to learn of the newest evidence in support of taking Omega-3 fatty acids.
Research has revealed the fact that adding Omega 3 fish oil to our diet can increase the survival rate of people with coronary heart disease. Omega 3s also have identified that it can help manage the aging process. The marker (very quickly becoming one of the newest medical words) used to come to this conclusis is a part of the DNA called telomeres. Research has shown that a high level of Omega 3 could add up to 5 years…Telomeres

Increased dietary intake of omega-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids found to reduce the risk of pathological retinal angiogenesis

While the recent trend indicates a drop in the number of Americans suffering from heart disease (nearly a quarter fewer for the period of 1993-2003), still nearly a million deaths are due to this, the most common form of fatal illness. And with Baby Boomers reaching the age associated with the onset of noticeable heart disease symptoms, physicians fear that trend may soon be reversed. Read more »

Glowing skin, healthy shiny hair, strong nails and eyes that sparkle, (visit http://www.your-vision-care.com for more info on vision/eye care). Isn’t this what we all want?
There are so many skin products available, and I am sure that some of them do help, nothing really helps as much as nutrition: nutritional supplements if needed: and exercise.
I read that: “Your skin is the largest organ in the body”. If you are NOT eating healthy foods to nourish your body, your skin is NOT being nourished. You can’t stuff your body with garbage junk food, and expect to have healthy skin.
Many studies have proven the need for nourishing vegetables, fruits, nuts, teas (such as green teas) and other foods. Shopping is an important part of your life if you want beautiful skin, and health in general.
Have you got dull skin, dry skin, skin that seems to be getting more wrinkly? This could be a sign that you are not getting enough omega-3 fatty acids, (now said to be a medical miracle of our century) which can be found in salmon.
Is your hair limp? Do your nails break? Maybe you need more protein such as beans, lentils, pulses or even more lean meat.
Be good to your body, and your body will look good!

According to the LA Times, Omega-3 fatty acids may protect against cell aging
Researchers from UC San Francisco reported today that people with heart disease who had high levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood had a lower rate of shortening of telomere length–a marker for aging–compared with similar heart patients who had the lowest levels of omega-3 fatty acids.
A telomere is a structure at the end of a chromosome that dictates the replication and stability of the chromosome. Shortening of the telomere means the cell is aging.

What are Omega-3 fatty acids?
Omega-3’s belong to a group of fatty acids known as long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Because the body does not manufacture them, Omega-3’s are classified as “essential fatty acids” (EFA’s), as it is essential they be obtained from food.
There are three important Omega-3 fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA are found in fish, while ALA is found only in plant foods such as flaxseed meal. The body can convert ALA into small amounts of EPA and DHA, but recent studies have indicated that our bodies are somewhat inefficient in this conversion.
Therefore, it is necessary to supplement your diet with these nutrients in order to significantly change your levels of Omega-3’s.

Omega-3 fatty acids benefit
Inflammation is becoming recognized as a primary factor in the development of a wide number of chronic disease conditions. A certain level of inflammatory response is needed to protect us from invading organisms (bacteria, viruses, and parasites) and to treat traumatic injuries. However, left unchecked, it can continue to wear down every organ in the body. This can lead to chronic diseases especially in the heart, brain, and immune system.
There are two types of inflammation. The first is classic inflammation that is associated with pain, swelling, and redness. This can be characterized as screaming pain since it is very obvious and calls for immediate intervention. The other type of inflammation is silent inflammation or silent pain that is far more insidious. It doesn’t generate the pain associated with classic inflammation and therefore goes untreated for years. We now know that this silent inflammation is the underlying cause of heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. Virtually every type of chronic disease has a significant inflammatory component as its underlying cause. A primary focus of modern medical research remains the reduction of both classic and silent inflammation.
According to: Dr Barry Sears, a leading expert on Inflammation
Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of — or who have — cardiovascular disease.
