Recent studies show that eating a diet that is high in omega 3 – fatty acids could delay or even prevent the onset of AMD. A questionnaire was given by the National Eye Institute to 3,000 people that were over the age of 49. The result? They established that people who did eat more fish as part of their diet actually were not as likely to get macular degeneration, compared to people who ate less fish.
Another study shows that those who ate a healthy balance of omega3 with omega6 fatty acids (and the optimal word here is balance! Omega 3 and omega 6 need to be in a proper ratio to each other) as a part of their regular diet were less likely to get AMD, or age related macular degeneration.
There are many studies point to this result.
